ASHG: Nabsys Links Cytogenetics and Genomics to Map Hematologic Cancers

Blood cancers are often driven by large-scale genomic rearrangements, including translocations, deletions, duplications, and other structural and copy number changes, that no single assay captures well. In practice, characterizing a hematologic malignancy can mean piecing together results from karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosomal microarray, and sequencing, each with its own resolution limits and blind spots.

Nabsys is positioning its Electronic Genome Mapping (EGM) technology as one way to close some of those gaps. At the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) 2026 Annual Meeting, held October 20–24 in MontrĆ©al, the Providence, RI-based company shared preliminary data on EGM in hematologic malignancies and previewed analysis software built for that application.

Bridging two disciplines

In a Nabsys-sponsored CoLab session on October 22, Alka Chaubey, PhD, FACMG, the company’s chief medical and genomics officer, presented ā€œElectronic Genome Mapping in Hematologic Malignancies: Bridging Cytogenetics and Molecular Genomicsā€ on behalf of Brynn Levy,…
